More tough luck for the Denver Nuggets. Danilo Gallinari was forced to leave last night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks and initial examination points at a torn ACL, which would rule the forward out for the rest of this season.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, of Yahoo! Sports, Gallinari will undergo an MRI scan to confirm the initial reports today, but it doesn’t look good:
“The doctor indicated that the ligament was loose,” one source told Yahoo! Sports. “They expect that it’s a torn ACL.”
This comes at a time when Ty Lawson is already out with an injury. If Gallinari is indeed out for the season, this is a huge blow to Denver’s hopes of making a deep run in the playoffs. The Italian forward has been a huge part of the team’s offense this year, averaging 16.2 points and 5.2 rebounds.
Most predicted the Nuggets as the most likely team to cause some upsets in the playoffs, and it is a real shame to see a team with so much potential crumble like this.
