2011 NBA Draft

Derrick Williams – 2nd Overall

Maybe it is still too early to call Derrick Williams a bust, but he has not lived up the hype of a second overall pick. To his credit, he has improved his 3-point shot, but his numbers are not that impressive. He is putting up 11.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in 24.2 minutes of action.

There are two issues with Williams at this point. First of all, it is hard to determine whether he is a small forward or a power forward. He does not quite have the shooting ability or the overall versatility of a small forward, as he averages just 0.6 assists per game. At the same time, he is not strong enoough to be a power forward and bigger guys can easily push him around in the post. He is also very inconsistent.

As he is very athletic, there is still a chance that Derrick could have a good NBA career, but as of right now he has not looked particularly convincing.
