9. Joe Johnson

2012-2013 averages: 16.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.7 apg

A lot of you may be wondering why Joe Johnson isn’t much higher on this list — well, if you haven’t noticed, it’s been quite the down year for him. He’s struggled to fit into Brooklyn offense and injuries, such as plantar fasciitis, haven’t helped either.

Johnson is posting a TS% of 52.3%, which is solid, but not great. When watching him it looks like he’s lost a step or two and as a result doesn’t get to the basket like he used to. Just 10% of his shots are coming at the rim and he’s only converting slightly over 43% of them.

With that said, Johnson is still a very effective player. His 37.9% shooting from behind the arc offers the much needed floor spacing, for a Brooklyn team that lacks just that in the starting lineup. And Johnson is still good isolation player,   shooting 45.6% on those types of plays, per Synergy.

His defense is going to help more than hurt. He’s not the best defender in the world, but his size at 6’7″ gives him the ability to guard multiple positions. The Nets defensive rating essentially stays the same at 103.2 whether he’s on the court or off.
