Pau Gasol has been out of action since early February with a torn plantar fascia, but could return to the Los Angeles Lakers lineup as early as next week. And better yet – he will be in the starting lineup.

According to L.A. Times, Gasol should get get starting job back and replace the struggling Earl Clark:

Gasol will return to the starting lineup next week in place of struggling Earl Clark, unless conditioning reasons force him to come off the bench for a game or two, an unlikely event.

Despite the fact that Gasol has not been able to fully adjust to Mike D’Antoni’s system, this is great new for the Lakers. As the team is trying to make a playoff push, any help along the way will be welcomed.

Furthermore, Kobe Bryant is out indefinitely with a severe ankle sprain, which seriously jeopardizes the team’s position in the Western Conference standings.
