A status update on Derrick Rose is hard to come by these days, as the coaching staff and players regularly preach patience when it comes to Rose returning to the floor. However, CSN Chicago report that the superstar is now listed day-to-day.
Chicago head coach, Tom Thibodeau said:
“It’s day-to-day. Whenever he’s ready, he’s ready. We just want him to continue to improve, focus on his rehab and then, when he’s ready to go, we’ll all know. Everyone has to remain patient.”
Rose himself has said that he does not know when he will make his comeback – it might be days, weeks or months away. Neither he nor the Chicago Bulls organization are willing to take any unnecessary risks after getting this far, and it is understandable.
People have debated whether Rose should return this season, or rather take a sideline seat and strengthen his leg over summer – essentially throwing any championship contention hopes that the Bulls still have out of the window.
Day-to-day can mean a lot of things, so don’t be surprised if Rose does not play of a couple more weeks. However, it does seem that he intends to play this season.
All we know for now is that Rose is back on the bench, albeit in street clothes.
The exciting part of the announcement is that constant mistery, as the 2011 regular season MVP could simply put his sneakers on and join his fellow Bulls on the floor any day now.
