There is still no word on whether Serge Ibaka will face any kind of suspension for his low blow on Blake Griffin, but as the Los Angeles Lakers visit the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight, the visitors voiced their opinion on the dirty play.
According to ESPN LA, Kobe Bryant would not have dealt with Ibaka’s punch the same way Griffin did, if it were the Black Mamba’s jewels that received the hit:
“I probably would have smacked [Ibaka] in the mouth,” Bryant said after the Los Angeles Lakers practiced Monday. “I would have dealt with the pain after.”
Dwight Howard also joked that he might need to wear a cup if he goes up against Ibaka.
All joking aside, the Lakers, who just got back to 0.500, face a very tough challenge tonight, regardless of whether Ibaka is available. As the Utah Jazz have lost their form, every game from here on out is a crucial one to the Lakers. They are currently two games behind the eigtht seed in the Western Conference.
Ever since making a guarantee that the Lakers would not miss out on the playoffs, Kobe has been leading the way for the team. He is averaging 34.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists in his last 5 games, and the Lakers have won five out of their last six contests.
The Lakers have won one out of their three games against the Thunder this season and will look to tie the series tonight. Kevin Durant has been unstoppable in the last three meetings, scoring 35, 42 and 36 points in each of the games.
