The consensus around the league is that Josh Smith will definitely be traded by today’s deadline. According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, Smith would not mind re-signing with the Milwaukee Bucks after this season, if he is traded to the team:
Josh Smith is not opposed to Milwaukee — the city or the weather — and likes the Bucks’ roster enough to re-sign there if traded, a league source told CBSSports.com Wednesday.
Initially it was reported that Smith would only consider re-signing with the Bucks if both Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings were still with the team. If either Jennings or Ellis were to be traded, Smith would obviously not be as pleased with the roster, but there is still a chance he would stick around with the team after this season.
Phoenix Suns are also considered to be one of the top destinations for the Hawks’ forward, as the Suns have a lot of attractive assets to offer in return. However, Berger says that the Suns don’t want to surrender their draft picks.
The Brooklyn Nets are still very limited in what they can offer for Smith, with MarShon Brooks and Kris Humphries being the only meaningful pieces the Nets have at their disposal.
