Denver Nuggets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Statistical Showdown

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the best-worst team to watch in the NBA. They still own the fourth-worst record in the league, but they’re playing much better as of late than their 16-34 record indicates. They’ve gone 6-2 over their last eight contests, Kyrie Irving has made his claim as one of the league’s top point guards (rightfully so) and the bench has averaged 38.5 points. Compared to their 28.3 point per game average, the bench has been playing substantially better ever since Marreese Speights and Wayne Ellington came to town. Denver’s physicalness, however, may be too overpowering for Cleveland down low:

Players to Watch:

Cavaliers: Marreese Speights

1. Went 12-of-12 from the free throw line against the Magic

2. Averaging 15.1 points since joining the Cavs

3. Shooting 48.1 percent from the field since joining the Cavs

Nuggets: Danilo Gallinari

1. Averaging 17.1 points (first on the team)

2. Shooting 37.3 percent from beyond the arc

3. Shot 61.5 percent the last time these teams met up

Key Matchup: Tristan Thompson vs. Kenneth Faried – When we’re talking about energy, Faried may lead the league in that category. His high energy at Morehead State was a very attractive piece when he has in the draft class of 2011. Thompson and Faried will be compared to each other for the rest of their careers, and so far I would say Faried has the advantage in regards to career trajectory.
