Greg Oden’s name has been thrown around the rumor mill a lot lately. Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers were the two teams that reportedly were front-runners in securing the injury prone center’s signature. Boston Celtics might have something to say about that.
According to Matt Moore, of CBS Sports, Oden met with Boston’s GM Danny Ainge:
“We wanted to talk to Greg to see where he is physically,” Ainge said.
“We’re just finding out as much as we can and letting Greg know what we have here,” said Ainge. “He’s not ready to play now, but he’s someone who’s very interesting.
Obviously, no formal offers have been put on the table just yet, but Oden will definitely have a few team’s to choose from when he is ready for a comeback.
With Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger out for the season, Boston’s title contention window with this team is practically closed. As the Celtics glance towards the future, Oden might fit into the inevitable rebuilding process.
