When things in Boston seemingly couldn’t get any worse, the Celtics have suffered another tough blow. The team’s promising rookie Jared Sullinger will join Rajon Rondo on the list of players that will miss the rest of the 2012-13 campaign.
Sullinger left Wednesday night’s game against Sacramento with what was reported as back spasms.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, of Yahoo Sports, the young power forward will require season-ending surgery:
Boston Celtics rookie forward Jared Sullinger will undergo surgery on his injured back and miss the rest of the season, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Wojnarowski points out that Sullinger dropped out of the lottery of last year’s draft, following the predraft medical examinations, which raised awareness regarding the long-term durability of his back.
Sullinger is averaging 6.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in his debut season, but it is his constant hustle and hard-working attitude that has won over the fans in Boston.
