The reigning NBA champions recently signed Chris “Birdman” Andersen, hoping that the 34-year-old veteran would help the Heat with their rebounding woes.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, of Yahoo! Sports, the Heat like what they have seen from Andersen and will sign him to another 10-day contract today.
Andersen has so far only appeared in one game, playing 4 minutes against the Detroit Pistons, scoring 2 points and grabbing 2 rebounds. He continues to go through an intense workout schedule, in order to get back into shape and hopefully earn a spot in the rotation.
The Heat are also finalizing a deal with the 24-year-old Jarvis Varnado, who has completed his second 10-day contract. The deal would keep the power forward in Miami for the rest of the season.
