On This Date in NBA History: January 24, Pat Riley Became the Fastest Coach to 500 Wins

1990 – In a 120-111 victory over the Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Pat Riley won his 500th career game. He won 500 games in the fewest number of games all-time. Riley now has 1,210 victories, the fourth-most in NBA history.
