The 15-21 Lakers are already banged up, having all 3 of the team’s centers out with injuries. The team has now announced that Jordan Hill’s hip injury appears to be significantly more serious than previously anticipated.

Hill will require season ending surgery, according to the Lakers’ website:

Results of the test showed he has loose fragments in addition to a possible labral tear. Hill has been advised that surgery will be needed to repair the injury, and he will be out for the remainder of the season.

While Hill is merely averaging 6.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, he will be sorely missed as Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard remain sidelined.
