Most NBA superstars like LeBron James, Dwight Howard and most recently Derrick Rose, have already discovered the social platform that twitter provides and amassed decent followings. Kobe Bryant, of the Los Angeles Lakers, is the latest superstar to join the twittersphere.
The antisocial has become social #mambatweets
— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) January 4, 2013
You can see the first and, so far, only tweet of the official Kobe Bryant account above. Bryant had previously joined twitter in 2011, but clearly wasn’t quite ready to share his thoughts with the world, as the account was later deleted.
Kobe most recently took over the @nikebasketball twitter handle during Christmas and hinted towards the possibility of rejoining twitter with a handle of his own.
In only around 5 hours, Bryant already has over 250,000 followers and you can expect that number to continue growing. He has, however, not followed a single person, and it will be interesting to see whether the Black Mamba considers any twitter users worth his following.
As Bryant is one of the brightest superstars in the NBA, it will be interesting to see if he can catch up to the likes of LeBron James (6.8M+ followers) and his teammate Dwight Howard (3.7M+ followers).
