Cleveland Cavaliers Recap: Bad Home Loss

For the first time this season rookie Dion Waiters was not in Byron Scott’s starting lineup.  The hot shooting C.J. Miles took his place at shooting guard.  Even with this new roster move, the Cavs were not able to get the win falling to the Kings 97-94.  This was only the second road victory for the Kings this season.

Demoting Waiters to the bench wasn’t an act of punishment, he wanted to go with Miles, who has been shooting lights out the past five games shooting nearly 50 percent.  Miles finished the game with 12 points, however is stroke seemed to be off finishing the night shooting 4 of 13 from the field.  Waiters found more success coming off the bench scoring 20 points and three assists.  Waiters found himself with more shooting opportunities when he was leading the second unit.  IMO, Waiters looked more comfortable tonight.
Coming into the game the Cavs knew they were at a significant size disadvantage going up against Jason Thompson and DeMarcus Cousins.  The mask-less men,Tristan Thompson and Tyler Zeller, were dominated in the first half down low.  Jason Thompson and Cousins combined for 37 points, 26 rebounds and eight assist.
Alonzo Gee, who logged 40 minutes tonight, recorded a triple double tonight scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Kyrie Irving kept the opposing point guard, Isiah Thomas, in check but had difficulties with the Sacramento’s sixth man Aaron Brooks.  Brooks was able to close the game out with a three-pointer and a layup touched off the glass.
Irving had a game-high 22 points and dished out six assists.
The Cavs next travel to Charlotte to take on the Bobcats (8-23) in the Time Warner Cable Arena.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
