Brooklyn Nets Target Phil Jackson For Head Coaching Job

It didn’t take long for the retired Phil Jackson’s name to be thrown into the rumor mill, after the Brooklyn Nets released head coach Avery Johnson yesterday.

According to ESPN, Phil Jackson’s representative, Todd Musburger, said that Jackson has no interest in taking on the head coaching job with the Nets, but the team intends to stay persistent.

Phil Jackson was considered as one of the candidates to make a coaching comeback with the Lakers earlier this season, but Mike D’Antoni was hired to replace Mike Brown.

P.J. Carlesimo has been named as the interim head coach for the Nets, while the front office tries to find a suitable replacement.

The owner of the Nets, Mikhail Prokhorov, has not been shy with spending money on the team, so it is certainly possible that Phil Jackson’s presumably high salary demands could be met.

Landing Phil Jackson is the Nets top priority at the moment, and if the most decorated NBA head coach of all time was to take his coaching talents to Brooklyn, it would undeniably bring a wave of encouragement to the team that has so far went 3-10 in the month of December.

Stay tuned to King James Gospel as we continue to track the Brooklyn Nets head coach hunt.
