Usually it’s Rajon Rondo leading the way for the Boston Celtics in the assist column. In their Christmas Day game against the Brooklyn Nets, however, Paul Pierce took control of the passing department, dishing out a game high 10 assists.
Mid-way through the second quarter, Pierce provided his nicest pass of the night. After grabbing a tough rebound, Pierce meandered his way up the court. As he got near half court, he spotted Jared Sullinger out ahead of the pack and fired a crisp bounce pass between two Nets’ defenders. The rookie calmly finished the play off with a left-handed layup for 2 of his 16 points.
Pierce’s passing and big games from both Sullinger and Jeff Green off the bench helped the Celtics to an easy 93-76 victory over the Nets.
