Boston Celtics rookie Fab Melo set a Developmental League record with 14 blocks Saturday night.

This comes after Boston has struggled mightily over the past five games, losing four of them, with virtually no defensive presence in the paint. The Celtics have toyed with the idea of starting Jason Collins in preparation for the return of Avery Bradley, and presumably their defensive identity.

While Melo won’t be the answer, he is a 7-footer who is showing off the same type of defensive instinct Greg Stiemsma showed last season. Would it really hurt to give him a shot?
