In extended minutes, rookie Marquis Teague has shown the Chicago Bulls management that he will be a fine option behind the returning Derrick Rose and Kirk Hinrich, making Nate Robinson and Richard Hamilton expendable in the near future.
Providing a bit of a scoring punch along with more of an all-around game, the Bulls could waive Robinson or trade Hamilton, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.
The Bulls signed (Robinson) to a deal that doesn’t become fully guaranteed until Jan. 10. That means they can waive Robinson with no penalty any time before that date, an option that always has been under consideration internally.
League sources indicate that veteran shooting guard Richard Hamilton has been offered in trade scenarios, efforts that could intensity as the Feb. 21 trade deadline nears.
Hamilton is dealing with a foot injury that has kept him off the floor since the beginning of December, while Robinson is coming off one of his best games of the season, dropping 18 points, four assists and three boards in a 100-89 victory over the Boston Celtics Tuesday.
Rose, according to Ball Don’t Lie, is reportedly “a couple weeks away” from returning to practice.
