1979 – Happy 33rd birthday to Sacramento Kings starting small forward John Salmons, who is in his 11th year in the NBA. The Kings have struggled thus far this season and unfortunately, it appears that Salmons is a part of the reason. 2011-12 was the first season since 2006-07 that he averaged less than double-digit points per game. Salmons’ reduced minutes can be the cause of his lack of scoring, or it might be a signal that he is close to the end of his career.

1932 – Happy 80th birthday to NBA Hall of Fame PF/C Bob Pettit who spent 11 seasons in the NBA with the Milwaukee and St. Louis Hawks. He was a large part of the Hawks’ four runs to the Finals. Although Pettit only won one championship, he was the 1954-55 Rookie of the Year, a two-time regular season MVP and an All-Star in all 11 of his years playing. In addition, he was the first player to score 20,000 points in NBA history.
