Another milestone for Kobe Bryant: When he scored his 13th point against the New Orleans Hornets (or is that the Pelicans?), Kobe reached 30,000 points in his career.
He becomes only the fifth player in NBA history to score as many, joining Kareem Abdul- Jabbar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain. At 34 years old, Kobe is also the youngest to reach the mark.
Entering tonight’s game, the Lakers were 3-8 when Kobe is their leading scorer. With Steve Nash and Steve Blake out, Kobe may need to assume the role of play-maker more and scorer less.
Regardless of the team’s struggles this year, Kobe Bryant is proving he is still an elite scorer by averaging 27.9 points and becoming the latest Mr. 30,000.
