Back in October, it shook the NBA landscape when reports circulated that the Los Angeles Lakers were preparing a big run at three-time MVP LeBron James in 2014, when he is eligible for free agency.
Now, however, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the likelihood of James even considering taking his talents to L.A. seem bleak.
An associate of LeBron James said a report about the Lakers pursuing him in 2014, and James possibly being receptive, “came out of left field and no one is taking it seriously. I would be surprised if that happened. He’s happy here.” But a return to Cleveland later in his career isn’t considered out of the question by his associates.
After spurning Cleveland fans in the summer of 2010 to join the Miami Heat, it’s interesting to hear it reported that James would at least consider returning home after winning his first NBA title.
James hits free agency in 2014, so whatever his representatives say between now and then should be taken with a grain of salt.
