According to reports, Los Angeles Clippers guard Chauncey Billups is expected to make his season debut tonight against Minnesota Timberwolves. Yahoo! Sports writer Marc J. Spears broke the news through twitter:
Chauncey Billups was a key player for the Clippers last season, before suffering a season ending achilles injury on Feb. 6. “Mr. Big Shot” averaged 14.9 points, 4 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game, starting all 20 games he played in.
The 36-year-old guard was determined not to retire after the injury and was scheduled to be out till at least early December. Early returns for players with injuries have been a thing this season and Chauncey Billups is another name on that list.
In Billups’ absence, Willie Green has been starting at the 2-guard spot for the Clippers this season, while Jamal Crawford has come off the bench and played major minutes at the position.
It is unclear how many minutes Billups will be able to handle, but the Clippers, who have lost 4 straight games, will certainly welcome any kind of contribution from the veteran guard.
