On Saturday the NBA was struck by the tragic news that Kevin McHale’s 22-year-old daughter had passed away.

The Houston Rockets coach took a leave of absence on the 10th of November to deal with, what was described as, a family matter. McHale went to Minnesota to stay beside his hospitalized daughter, Alexandra “Sasha” McHale, who had been suffering from an auto-immune disease called lupus and unfortunately lost the battle on Saturday.

Leslie Alexander, the owner of Houston Rockets, sent the following message to the McHale family through Rockets’ official homepage:

“I extend my deepest condolences to Kevin and Lynn for the loss of their beautiful daughter, Sasha, on Saturday afternoon. Kevin and Lynn are loving and dedicated parents who will need our continued support throughout this very difficult time. Our entire organization is mourning the McHale family’s loss and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”

It is still unclear when or if McHale will return to coaching the Rockets. The team has had a roller coaster season so far, and have a record of 6-7.

We at King James Gospel would like to extend our condolences and wish strength and fortitude to the McHale family at this difficult time.
