Third Quarter Nightmare for Lakers?

The Los Angeles Lakers played their sixth preseason game and they are still winless. At the end of the half the Lakers were ahead by 11 points and seemed pretty decent in the game. I do not know what happened during half time but in the third quarter, the Sacramento Kings played really well and forced the Lakers to turn the ball over plenty of times. The Kings scored 28 points in the third and the Lakers only scored 15 points. The major concern for the Lakers was their rotation players. In my opinion, except Devin Ebanks and Antawn Jamisson, there is not any player of NBA caliber. For the regular season, Mike Brown should mix the starters and rotation players in the game to become more effective in the game.

Defense?

Los Angeles Lakers defense was not good this preseason at all. Dwight Howard did give an inside shot blocking presence like I expected. I expect more than him for the season but it was his first game. He played pretty decent in the game scoring 19 points with 12 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. The Los Angeles Lakers switched every pick-and-roll play and it did not work well. Man to man defense without switching will be more effective for the Los Angeles Lakers in the regular season.

Sacramento Kings

The Kings are more than ready for the season. They passed the ball well and played good transition defense. They shot the ball with high percentages and rebounded the ball well too. I am not sure if they are thinking about re-signing Tyreke Evans in the future but he improved a lot and added much composure to his game.

Game Key Point; Free Throws

The Kings attempted 21 free throws and made all of them. The Lakers missed 10 free throws out of 29 attempts.
