According to Jim Buss, executive vice president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the Lakers are planning to sign one or more top free agents in the summer of 2014. Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol`s contracts are coming to an end so the Lakers will have plenty of salary cap space to bring on a big free agent. Buss is planning to build the team around Dwight Howard so he is hoping to re-sign Howard past this season. Howard is likely to sign a contract with Lakers too so it is clear that the Lakers will keep him for the upcoming years.
Who is available on 2014?
The 2014 summer is going to be crazy for the NBA GM`s. Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James and Chris Bosh are some of the key players who could become free agents on in the 2014 summer. The Lakers are going to attack all of the free agents in this summer to recover from Kobe Bryant`s possible retirement. LeBron might be a possibility for the Lakers. King James will bring his talents to Los Angeles and he will have a chance to play with the best center in the league in Howard. LeBron and Chris Paul are good friends so Paul might be a potential second signing for the team and another combination of a Big 3 can be created by the Lakers. This possible new Big 3 would be better than the current Heat Big 3 and would immediately make the Lakers title favorites. I am not sure what LeBron is thinking about this possible scenario but there is no need to be blindsided by LeBron. King James is player who wants all the attention on him. Miami is a big city with lots of fans but the NBA`s best two cities are New York and Los Angeles. Most of the players are dreaming about playing in Madison Square Garden or Staples Center. Sorry Heat fans but it is not far away to see LeBron with Lakers jersey.
