The Heat’s off season just got that much better.
Just after signing the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA in Ray Allen, Miami pulled off another signature Pat Riley free agency coup, talking the once max contract player,Rashard Lewis, into accepting the veteran’s minimum.
Lewis is a career 39% three point shooter and sits 8th in the all time three point field goal records. The 6’10 Lewis adds another long, versatile player who can play a number of positions and pose a number of offensive headaches. He is a capable defensive player, but will not be asked to contribute too much on this end.
With Lewis, Allen, Miller and Jones, the Miami Heat have four of the top 10 three point shooters in the NBA, and arguably 4 of the greatest of all time. You surround their three below the arc stars with an ensemble of beyond the arc sharpshooters, the Heat are a considerable amount better than they were last season, and last season they were the best basketball team on earth.
If you thought LeBron James was going to be scary having now shaken the championship monkey off his back, throw in Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen around him and you’ve got just about the scariest entity professional sports has ever seen.
