Hollins Finds A Home In Boston

The Boston Celtics signed former Cleveland Cavaliers center Ryan Hollins on Friday after the Cavaliers had released him earlier in the week.

With the injuries that Boston has experienced at the center position this season with Chris Wilcox (aortic surgery) and Jermaine O’Neal (wrist), the Celtics were looking for a big man to fill the void of losing Wilcox and O’Neal for the season. The 7-foot center, who struggled to make an impact with the Cavaliers this season, was reportedly asked to be released as Cleveland was not looking to resign him for next season.

During the lockout Celtics players Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett worked out with Hollins in the summer and was highly recommended by the two to Celtics president of basketball relations Danny Ainge.

Hollins is averaging 3.6 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game and scored one point in the three minutes of play he saw in his debut with the Celtics against the Philadelphia 76ers Friday night.
