This will be the third matchup between the Cavaliers and Nets this season. The teams have split the first two meetings, with the Cavaliers winning 98-82 back on Jan. 1 and the Nets winning on Jan. 27 99-96. Both games were played at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Cavaliers are currently on a three-game skid while the Nets have lost two in a row. Both teams will try to get back on the right track on Monday, but both teams are competing toward the bottom of the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers looked like a playoff team for awhile, but the trading of Ramon Sessions almost seals Cleveland’s fate for the rest of the season. Having a better chance to get a good lottery pick to continue drafting young, talented players seems to be the route that the Cavaliers are taking.

Irving, who is part of the rebuilding process, will have a very fierce matchup with Williams. In the two games that they Cavs and Nets have played so far, Williams has scored a total of 43 points, 15 assists and six rebounds and Irving has totaled 45 points, six assists and 10 rebounds. Monday night’s matchup should be very intriguing as Irving has increasing grown as a point guard and Williams has had a 57-point game against the Charlotte Bobcats on March 9.

Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. at Prudential Center.
