Kyrie Irving Named February Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month

Cleveland Cavaliers rookie point guard Kyrie Irving was named February Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month on Thursday, March 1. This is the second time that Irving has collected rookie of the month honors as he won the award in January also.

During the 10 games that Irving played in the month of February (He missed three games to injury) he shot .422 from the field and .444 from behind the three-point line. Irving also shot an incredible 41-43 from the line (.953), .85 higher than his season average of .868.

Irving also averaged 19.3 PPG, 5.6 APG and 3.8 RPG. Compared to last month’s averages, Irving improved greatly from his rookie of the month honors in January to his award for February. He averaged 18.9 PPG, 4.7 APG and 3.2 RPG in 17 games in January.

The rookie will start his campaign for his third rookie of the month award as the Cavaliers square off for the first time in March against the Chicago Bulls Friday night at Quicken Loans Arena.
