LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul Cancel Tour

The new foursome that emerged from the lockout have confirmed the cancellation or their anticipated ‘Homecoming’ tour that was to take place in four cities around the country.

James, Wade, Anthony and Paul have been as inseparable as Burt and Ernie since the beginning of the lockout, continuously attending meetings, exhibitions and recreational activities together. My personal favourite was the superstars taking their respective children (I think all had a son named after themselves, but hey why not) to a Nickolodeon event in LA. It produced a genuine Kodak moment.

Nonetheless they announced the tour would not be going ahead because they heard some optimistic news regarding the current labour negotiations.

We are yet to hear of what this news is, so stay tuned, perhaps they have finally banned Dan Gilbert from discussions. Fingers crossed.

Wade offered the explanation:

“We are thrilled that a tentative agreement has been reached and are looking forward to getting back to work and playing basketball. We all want to reconnect with our teams to make sure we hit the ground running when training camps are expected to open on December 9. Our commitment to helping children and the communities doesn’t stop, and the daily work of our foundations to do just this will continue, as always.”

The tour was to begin in James’ home town of Akron on Dec 1 and proceed into Paul’s current home of New Orleans, Wade’s home town of Chicago and New Jersey. I am not sure whether Anthony spent some of his childhood in NJ, I know he was born and grew up in Baltimore, perhaps there is some meaning to that inclusion.

There is still to be a final all star exhibition in New York on Tuesday which will go ahead.
