The Wizards’ young guard Jordan Crawford exploded into the national scene with what was rumoured to be a facial slam on LeBron James at his own Nike event. It caused such a stir that video cameras were removed from people in the audience and sent the country into hysterics, anticipating what the dunk was like. Finally footage emerged and we all realised it was absolutely nothing. Typically it didn’t stop everyone making jokes on LeBron’s behalf, but we’ll let them have their hollow satisfaction. Crawford is back in the news however, rather this time he is talking the talk rather [...]
Nike has released it’s newest basketball campaign, identifying the slogan “Basketball Never Stops”. The commercial shows LeBron playing a local game in what appears to be some Asian country, Kevin Durant playing in the Goodman League, Dirk shooting those ridiculous faders in a gym and Coach K doing what he does best for Duke. This is contrasted with a bunch of shots of random people from around the world participating in the game of basketball. It’s fairly corny, but at least it isn’t some video game fantasy movie crap with Kobe Bryant. Could he actually do any of the things [...]
It is pretty widely accepted that the two most important positions on the court are the point guard and center roles. A dominant big man combined with an organising, playmaking point guard will immediately have you as a contender, regardless of the rest of the roster. It is in that reason that it is rather interesting as to why the Heat were so good last year, but also why they were so bad. They mainly got by on the talent of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, and the occasional re-emergence of Toronto’s Chris Bosh, but were constantly shuffling the crucial [...]
In what was just reported live through Sportscenter via Chris ‘my sources tell me’ Broussard, the NBA is painfully close to ending the lockout that has caused such a horrible strain on the game of basketball. David Stern was very optimistic towards a deal as the sides emerged from a prolonged day of talks and has really taken everyone off guard as it seems very clear there will be a handshake agreement within days, and a deal perhaps within the week. The plan is then to have OTA’s until December 1st, when the season will commence. I assume the scheduling [...]
Man… This is really disappointing… Isn’t that just life. You get your hopes up, you think something amazing is going to go down, and just like that it is all taken away from you. No, I’m not talking about relationships or women (although that about sums it up for me), I am talking about the latest news that LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul have pulled out of the proposed NBA World Tour that was set to take off in a couple of days. Not only is this bad for the overall marketability of the tour, despite the fact [...]
Dan LeBetard Slams Petty Dan Gilbert, Selfish NBA Owners
If you are a regular on this site you will know how fond I am of Dan LeBetard. I think he is the most entertaining sports media figure out there at the moment, excluding some of the better Sportscenter hosts (Scott, van Pelt, Levy etc) and someone I relate my writing to most. His boisterous rants during the Miami Heat’s demolition jobs of the Celtics and Bulls in the NBA Playoffs earlier this season were some of the most memorable and down right hilarious pieces of radio in it’s history. At least in my opinion. Nonetheless the messiah of sports [...]
Seriously America, you need to take a good hard look at yourself. Gone are the days when athletes were just that, athletes, now they are tabloid mongered lightning rods that withstand the constant barrage of each and every person with an outlet in which to do so. LeBron James is quite obviously the chairman of this so scrutinised and despised army. Following Tim Tebow’s typical yoyo performance that culminated in him dragging the Broncos to an overtime win over the Miami Dolphins, LeBron James headed to twitter to express his appreciation for perhaps America’s most loveable sports figure. “Congrats to [...]
It was Kevin Durant’s turn to do the hosting and the stage was Oklahoma City. It is almost comical that I say this, but the usual cast was in attendance, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and several more of the world’s best. Michael Beasley surprisingly was the star, finishing with a game high 56 points. Durant dropped in 42 points, 22 rebounds and 11 assists in a Wilt Chamberlain like triple double. James had a pretty standard 40 points 9 rebounds and 8 assists. The game went into overtime where LeBron’s team came out on top, but basketball, yet [...]
So if you have ever seen anything of Skip Bayless you will know he is about the most insufferable, egotistical media figure in the history of American journalism. I say that with no real knowledge of any history of American journalism but should there be someone worse than Skip Bayless I do not wish to know about him. I just want to make one point on him (I have millions but we don’t want to sit here all night talking about his obvious faults) and it pretty much sums the guy up. He makes no secret of his allegiance to [...]
Saints’ talented young tight end is one of the few NFL players who have jumped on board the LeBron James to the NFL bandwagon and has offered an interesting take on the situation. Whilst it is unsure exactly how James would be used, given his body and his athleticism wide receiver or perhaps a situational tight end would be the likely positions you would find LeBron playing. Jimmy Graham seems very keen to have LeBron James join him in New Orleans, regardless of that potentially meaning he takes snaps or at the least catches from the young Saint. “Listen, if that [...]
