It was by far the biggest regular season game so far for both these teams. Tied at 2nd in the East with Chicago already locking up the no.1 seed, there is no better time to beat your main conference rival than the very end of the regular season with the second seed basically on the line. Miami finally figured out the Celtics. Since the Kendrick Perkins trade, the Celtics just haven’t struck the same fear they used to. It’s staggering how big of a difference one non all star can make, but such is the state of this defense driven [...]
Derrick Rose: The Worst MVP Ever?
The media, the fans, most of the players and coaches have fairly unanimously agreed that Derrick Rose is the MVP of the 2010/2011 season. Rose has led his Bulls to the top record in the East, the first time the Chicago have done this since the retirement of the great one. On the season Rose is averaging 24.9 points, 7.9 assists and 4.1 rebounds. Yet to me Derrick Rose, at least at this very moment, will go down as the worst MVP of all time. Rose may well go on to a Hall of Fame career and may add several [...]
Miami Heat run past the Charlotte Bobcats 112-103
Dwyane Wade returned, Chris Bosh was arguably Miami’s best on the night and LeBron James played third fiddle to the other members of the big 3. Which one was a lie. Neither. Dwyane Wade returned to the lineup after a one game absence in which he watched his Heat lose at home to the Bucks. Wade put up 27 points in his limited 33 minutes of play signaling there is no time for re-adjustment, it is straight back to work. Bosh was arguably Miami’s best player on the night, adding a highly efficient 27 points on 9/14 shooting coupled with [...]
As an avid LeBron James fan and an avid soccer fan, this was a match made in heaven. Only one problem for me personally, I am an avid Arsenal fan. Nonetheless it is an exciting cross between two very different brands and poses opportunities for both parties the likes of which has not been seen before. We know James has aspirations to become a billionaire, seeking multiple non basketball related businesses including the infamous LRMR marketing company that he and Maverick Carter started. Don’t start me. “What FSM does for Roush Fenway, Liverpool and the Red Sox, we will now [...]
LeBron’s most efficient season
I read an article on ESPN earlier this week discussing whether it had been LeBron’s most efficient season. ESPN quoted James as saying he believed it was, which led them to throwing out a large number of statistics at us trying to decipher whether it was indeed his most efficient year. They mentioned the PER system, which is a complete joke and do not get me started on that jibberish. But there was a very very interesting set of notes amongst all the jargon. Two days after falling to Kevin Durant and the Thunder, James scored 43 points on just [...]
Milwaukee stun the Heat in Miami 90-85
No Dwyane Wade? Usually no problem. Coming into last night’s match Miami were 3-1 without Dwyane Wade. Now before they acquired James and Bosh this would be an amazing statistic, but a Wade-less Heat allows James to get back into that dominant Cavaliers persona, and also gives Bosh more chances to return to being a Raptor. The first half of the game last night it would seem as if both players had amnesia, they looked lost, hesitant and it seemed they’d forgotten why they headlined the biggest free agency coup in the history of sport. James had just 2 points [...]
This is part 2 of our look at Miami’s first round potential opponent, after already considering Philadelphia for the role. Since we discussed the 76ers Miami has risen to 2nd in the Eastern Conference, setting up an increasingly likely showdown against the new look New York Knicks. It would be a mouth watering first round match up to say the least, so let’s have a look at the Knicks. Overview: The Knicks have been in the headlines in 2011 as much as the Heat following the severely dragged out and boring ‘MeloDrama’ which eventuated in Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups [...]
LeBron puts on a show as Miami win in New Jersey
Miami fans collectively held their breath Sunday night as Dwyane Wade came down hard and limped off the court, something they have seen so many times before. Wade has struggled with injuries throughout the course of his career and again found himself back in the locker room prematurely. Luckily it was not serious and Wade returned to the game just in time to help Miami closeout the fast finishing Nets en-route to another impressive late season performance. It was all LeBron James, who finished with 31 points (13/18 shooting) 11 rebounds 7 assists 3 steals three or four plays that [...]
Wade and LeBron Help Miami down the Timberwolves
Minnesota stuck with their more favoured opponents through the first 2 and a half quarters before their usually trustworthy rebounding let them down. The number that jumped out to me was the T’Wolves getting blown out 46-31 on the boards, with Kevin Love only managing 7 rebounds, which is just the 12th time this season he has failed to hit double figures. It was the usual Dwyane Wade LeBron James show contributing 59 points between them, James adding 10 assists and 6 boards whilst 2 steals and 2 blocks including his best LBJ impersonation with a chase down on Ellington. [...]
