Heat hold out Igoudala, 76ers, clinch the series and head into the second round and the Celtics
Igoudala showed his worth and gave us glimpses of why Philly fans weren’t so worried when the former AI checked out of the city of brotherly love, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Heat, who head into perhaps the most eagerly anticipated and mouth watering second round in the history of the NBA. Philadelphia came out fast and jumped out to an early 10 point lead, perhaps hinting at a return to Philly for game 6. However Miami rallied behind Wade and Chalmers, who had 6 three pointers, and grinded out a 97-91 win. LeBron had just 3 first [...]
Philadelphia at the very least will leave the NBA playoffs with a well fought win over Miami and nothing but confidence heading into next season. The highly youthful 76ers led by the inspirational figure of Doug Collins had no right to even challenge Miami in this series, and it’s fair to say most of us gave them about as much chance of winning as LeBron apologising to Dan Gilbert. But for 3 of the 4 games played so far in the series, Philadelphia have pushed Miami to it’s very limit, forcing the kings of South Beach to play top notch [...]
Philadelphia started well, played strongly through the middle and admirably towards the end, but even the wise words of Doug Collins couldn’t pull out a 76ers win at home, setting up an opportunity for the Heat to sweep in game 4 and take some much needed rest before they clash with Boston or New York. Following Wade’s migrane interrupted game 2, you could tell he wanted to come out and make a statement, to show everyone that he was not going to let anything slow him down in his goal to double his championship ring collection. Wade put up a [...]
From May 2010 to May 2011 I believe the Cleveland Cavaliers have produced the worst overall year in the history of professional sports. Before you tell me to give them a break and stop hating on the Cavaliers, I am a Cavaliers fan and have been for a long time. I know their pain as well as anyone. Lets go back to May 13 last year. James playing down the clock in the TD Bank Garden as Boston yet again take down his Cavaliers. This time James does not sulk and walk off the court but acknowledges his opposition and [...]
Game 2 did not live up to the hype of game 1 as Miami ran rampant over their unfavoured opponents. Unlike game 1, Miami came out hot and stayed hot throughout the course of the game, locking down defensively on the opportunist 76ers, ensuring a comeback was not repeated. Philadelphia shot a miserable 34% from the floor as they again relied heavily upon the bench scoring of the versatile Thaddeus Young and their star rookie Evan Turner. Miami on the other hand hardly had a bad performer. Dwyane Wade was under a dark injury cloud heading into the game as [...]
Lakers, Spurs, Magic Lose. Heat, Bulls, Celtics Almost. Should we expect more of the same?
In perhaps the craziest round of game one matches the NBA has ever seen we witness not only three high seeds, but three championship contenders fall to much less fancied opponents. The Champion Lakers were humbled in the Staples Center by an upbeat New Orleans Hornets and their fearless superstar Chris Paul who never ceases to amaze every time he steps foot in the playoffs. The veteran San Antonio Spurs were stunned up at home by the match-up nightmare Memphis Grizzlies despite being without their star Rudy Gay. The stone cold Atlanta Hawks headed into the playoffs on the back [...]
For all those, me included, who doubted Philadelphia’s ability to make this series competitive, well we have now all certainly re-evaluated their chances. The 76ers came out looking to make a statement, knowing a quick start would be the only way they were going to rattle the Heat upon their first playoff game together. You could tell Miami were nervous early, despite having three superstars who have been there and done that all before. James,Wade and Bosh all struggled scoring the ball early and all finished shooting under 50% from the field. James recorded 21 points 14 rebounds 5 assists [...]
Derrick Rose: The Worst MVP Ever? Part 2
I would like to thank you all for your continued support of this website. Because of your generous out pour of emotion this small time website has become a much more known entity and despite the fact 95% of it, if not more, was negative, any publicity is good publicity. What most of you have struggled with is that this is a blog, which means it’s all driven by opinion. When you tell me, and believe me there have been plenty, that I am the dumbest guy in the world, or this is the worst article ever, it really doesn’t [...]
Following Miami’s grinding win over the Hawks last night, the Heat have secured the no.2 seed in the East, meaning their first round opponent will be the rising Phildadelphia 76ers. I have already previewed this team as a potential first round match up, but I would like to go over that a little more thoroughly, now that we know it is their definite opponent. Expect each of the 8 teams to rest their star players this final game as for the first time in as far as I can remember the first round is locked in before the official end [...]
Boston’s shock loss to the Wizards has allowed Miami to claim the no.2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs after defeating the Hawks in Atlanta. Miami coasted through much of the game on the back of LeBron’s 34 points 10 rebounds 7 assists 3 steals, but found itself in a whole lot of trouble late when the Hawks fed off their big crowd to storm back to tie the game with only 3 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. James and Wade steadied the ship and took Miami home. This closeout combination was a real display of how these two [...]
