Bosh’s Turn
Miami headed back to Toronto for Bosh’s eagerly anticipated return to his old building to face his old team. Toronto infamously do not welcome home their former players with open arms, more open caskets. Bosh was no different as he experienced resounding boos as they announced their former hero over the loudspeaker. Bosh was unfazed by it and had himself one of his best scoring performances as a Heat player knocking down 25 points. His 9 misses generated serious delight from the fans but his 11/12 free throw shooting was enough to help him to a total more commonly associated [...]
Getting ready for All Star
The Heat headed into Indiana Tuesday night to take on a team 7-1 under their new coach. Normally a Heat Pacers game wouldn’t attract too much attention, but with Vogul getting the most out of his up and comers, the match posed more of a threat for Miami. That was until Dwyane Wade decided to score 41. Wade finished with 41 and 12 rebounds, proving to be almost un-guardable at times as he effortlessly cut to the rim. It was the Dwyane Wade that has established himself as one of the top 3 players in the game, the Dwyane Wade [...]
Statement
It may have been only a 3 point difference, but there hasn’t been a more underwhelming scoreline than the Celtics win over Miami last night. The only word to describe Miami last night was outclassed. The only words to describe Boston last night is still the best in the east. And right now it’s not even close. You can say Wade had yet again a poor performance against Boston (shooting 27% against them this season) which Wade very rarely has. You can say the Heat shot 3/16 from three and had only 8 points from their bench. You can say [...]
The Heckler
James’ near triple double in Detroit on Friday night was not the reason he was once again in the headlines, rather a run in with the infamously hostile Palace of Auburn Hills crowd, one in particular. James received the usual boos as he gained possession, but one fan in particular took it too far, seemingly insulting LeBron’s family. James confronted the heckler during a free throw attempt. “Don’t say anything about my family — be respectful or we’re going to have a problem,” James said, which blurted out the expletive that was amongst his rebuttal. It’s the first time we [...]
8 straight
Miami headed into the Motor City and into the always hostile Palace of Auburn Hills and came out with their 8th consecutive, and following the loss of the Celtics to the Lakers, a conference lead equaling victory. Aretha Franklin was in attendance to see the NBA’s rock star team, and was impressed by the antics of Miami’s long heralded leader. Wade finished with 24 points 8 rebounds and 7 assists, while James added a Jason Kidd like 16 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The big plus for Miami again was the performances of the bench, with Miller [...]
Clever
Sunday’s clash with the Clippers at the American Airlines Arena still held a strong crowd, despite the obvious draw of the Superbowl. The reason was some clever thinking from the Heat organisation that perhaps didn’t receive the credit it was due. Sunday was ‘kid’s day’ for the Heat, very clever thinking. There is no way the NBA is going to rival the Superbowl in any sense of the word, yet the awe and hype of the Superbowl is lost on kids, hence the Heat’s way of thinking. If they could bring in more kids for cheaper seats, the parents were [...]
Yes, there was NBA on today
If, unlike me, you were able to take yourself away from today’s Superbowl, you might have noticed Miami were hosting the somewhat inform LA Clippers and rookie sensation Blake Griffin. Wade led the way for a dominant Heat performance with 28 points 8 rebounds and 8 assists with a LeBron James type stat line. James on the other hand had probably his least productive game in the past few years managing only 12 points 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Also on the negative he had 6 turnovers. The Heat continue to look better with their full strength line up (other [...]
5 straight
Miami extended its winning streak to 5 games tonight, defeating a spirited Bobcats team in front of a sell out crowd that included Michael Jordan. Jordan was warming up with his team before the game, but it wasn’t enough to inspire Charlotte as Wade recorded his first triple double of the year with 25 points 12 rebounds and 10 assists. James had a night off following his 51 point near triple double in Orlando, scoring 19 points and 9 assists. Miami have a busy schedule in the lead up to the All Star break and will want to ensure it [...]
Vintage LeBron
LeBron James exploded to the tune of 23 points in the first quarter including 16 straight points en route to a NBA season high 51 points, partnered with 11 rebounds and 8 assists. James at one stage was 11/11 from the field in an offensive clinic in which Orlando were unable to dampen no matter who they threw at him. The Heat’s win was somewhat dampened by the Magic’s late surge as they came back from a 20+ point lead to having a chance in the final 10 seconds to tie the game. Ryan Andersen missed and the Heat held [...]
Cyclone Yasi
As most of you know by now the state of Queensland in Australia has been ravaged by floods that covered an area twice the size of Texas. The situation has gone from bad to worse with the largest cyclone in Australia’s history now making its way into Queensland. To put this in perspective, the cyclone is categorized as the same level as that of Hurricane Katrina. It seems Queensland cannot catch a break. Below is a photo of the size of the Cyclone compared to that of the USA. Very much puts it in perspective. If you are religious please [...]
