Not so sunny in Miami
The Heat returned to training today, with the Big 3 all watching from the sidelines. Bosh and James continue to rehab their sprained ankles whilst Wade rested his knee which took a blow during the Chicago game. Atlanta travel on Tuesday and Miami have Wade listed as probable, James as a game time decision and Bosh doubtful. With the Heat in a 3 game slide, how much longer can they afford to allow these players the maximum amount of time to overcome injuries? Given Miami are no.1 in the East and still hold a distinct advantage over Orlando for their [...]
What If
Today I was talking to my friend and another writer on Fansided (Hornets, check him out) and we were talking about the Collective Bargaining Agreements and possible outcomes. I don’t know how many of you guys are gamers, but I love the fantasy draft feature on both Madden and NBA 2K. I think you can see where I’m going with this. I was never good, well interested, in maths and the legal semantics relevant are not something that has caught my attention. Nonetheless we were talking about whether it be possible if the NBA were so unable to find an [...]
True Value
The past two games LeBron has been inactive. The ankle injury suffered late in the Clippers game late last week has forced the Heat to rest LeBron, despite an almost free schedule over the next fortnight. Despite the loss, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade have been the leaders of different teams for the entirety of their careers, and only once has one of the aforementioned two had a teammate of All Star quality. Nonetheless the Heat are 0-2 without James, following a humiliation in Denver and a late loss to Rose’s ever blossoming Chicago. Wade struggled in Denver and was [...]
A chance for Wade to be Wade
Last year the Wade-led Heat were a good team. They challenged for a Conference Semi Final birth and purely the fact they had Dwyane Wade meant they could beat any team on any night. Tonight it was a similar image of Wade again being the primary and mostly singular leader of the Heat. This time however he had a fellow All Star in Chris Bosh. The other member of the big 3 was resting his busted ankle, but even without the best player on the team, they were an improvement upon last year. Or not. Denver thrashed Miami by 28 [...]
All good things must come to an end
The Heat’s road win streak came to an end last night in Staples Center, and not at the hands of the Lakers. There is a new showtime in Los Angeles playing patriotic in the red, white and blue. Led by one of the most incredible athletes to grace professional sports and a cast of young support that promise to challenge for the next decade. Never has there been so much hysteria over a franchise more commonly known as ‘the other LA team’. Despite 27 points 8 rebounds and 6 assists from LeBron, partnered with 31 points 7 rebounds and 5 [...]
I didn’t do it
Bart Simpson forged a career and a place in the hearts of the world’s youth and adults alike with phrases such as ‘Ay Carumba’ and ‘Eat My Shorts’. I’ll never forget the episode when Bart becomes famous after ruining a skit on Krusty’s TV show and his explanation for doing so was simply ‘I didn’t do it’. It was hilarious. And it was cute. But Bart Simpson was 10. LeBron James is 26. In the last month LeBron has become the deer stuck in headlights twice for comments he has made. First it was the ‘contraction’ debacle which would have [...]
Australian Floods
Australia, notably the state of Queensland, is going through one of the worst disasters it has ever faced. I don’t know if the pictures are reaching you in the USA or wherever else in the world you are reading this but I can tell you they are some of the most shocking and disturbing images I have seen in my short lifetime. To put it in perspective, the current areas covered by flooding is larger than France and Germany put together. More than 200,000 people have been effected, more than 65 are missing and this figure will most likely increase, [...]
Karma
Following the Cavaliers catastrophically embarrassing loss to the Lakers, LeBron felt he had to again damage his already dire reputation in Cleveland by sending a not so subliminal message via Twitter. “Crazy. Karma is a b****. Gets you every time. It’s not good to wish bad on anybody. God sees everything!” Now I have called out and possibly infuriated a few LeBron haters before and it won’t be the last time. I myself have been a Cavaliers fan since the day he joined the league. I watched him single handedly destroy Detroit. I watched us get swept by the Spurs. [...]
Overtime in Oregon
In perhaps the most exciting game the Heat have played all year, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade’s late game antics inspired the Heat to their 13th consecutive road win, just 3 shy of the record. It was a game manufactured for national TV. The superstars scored big points in big moments with big shots, there were highlight reel dunks and blocks, attempted buzzer beaters, the occasional 30ft three pointer from Mr. James and a crowd who got over their early game jeers and by the fourth quarter were simply admiring what was happening in front of them. James finished with [...]
Two Dozen
LeBron James recorded his 14th double double of the season to lead Miami to a gritty overtime victory over the Bucks at the Bradley Center. James had 26 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and a season high 6 steals as he led a lacklustre Heat performance improving the team to 12 consecutive road wins, 4 shy of the Lakers league record. Both Wade and LeBron struggled shooting the ball, combining for just 40 points on 12/42 shooting. Bosh also struggled shooting 6/16 but had 10 crucial points down the stretch. Chris Douglas Roberts, the talented 6’7 guard had 30 points [...]
