Poor Cleveland
Despite what happened in the summer, I am still a Cavaliers fan, yet it is becoming increasingly hard to be open with it. Tonight the Heat ran rampant on Cleveland, sending the Cavs who were first to 40 wins last year, to be the first team to 40 losses this year. This is highlighted by 21 consecutive losses, 23 consecutive on the road. James was up to his old tricks again, scoring 24 points and adding 8 assists, highlighted by a vicious dunk on his former teammate and fellow high flier JJ Hickson. Wade was ridiculous totalling 26 points in [...]
Almost safe to say everyone has moved on
James was interviewed before tonight’s game against the Cavaliers upon the titanic struggles the Cavaliers have faced this season en-route to the worst record in the NBA, 20 consecutive losses and Cleveland have already matched the loss total for their past two seasons combined. “It didn’t matter for me if the Cavs were going to have a successful season or not,” James said. “I felt like I was making the right choice for me as an individual and for my career. Like I said, I have nothing bad to say about the players that I left and the team. I [...]
Back in Business
On a day that saw the latest installment of the league’s greatest rivalry, Celtics Lakers, and the continuation of a rivalry dying due to obvious reasons, Cleveland Orlando, the out of form Miami Heat headed into the cringe-fully loud Ford Center to take on the up and coming Thunder. The Heat played as well as they have played collectively so far this year, downing a strong team in a hostile environment. Chris Bosh’s anticipated return lived up to expectations as the Heat’s record with Bosh continued to be a stabilising factor for the Heat. Wade had 32 points 9 rebounds [...]
Old Habits
The normally offensively adept Miami Heat struggled monumentally in key periods tonight against the Knicks, as the Heat dropped their first game against the Knicks in their last 8 meetings. A jubilant New York crowd energised the Knicks throughout the game, despite their similar shooting struggles. Late heroics from two of the pieces rumoured to be a part of the Carmelo Anthony discussions, Gallinari and rookie sensation Landry Fields, guided the Knicks past the fast finishing James and the Heat. LeBron had perhaps his worst offensive game of the season, shooting 7/24 from the field which probably flattered his actual [...]
Chalmers in
The Heat head back to the Garden tomorrow night to play the Knicks, but it’s a different story this time around. The Heat and Knicks have both hit form slumps on the back of a few injuries and forced rotations. The biggest of which is the first start of the season for Miami’s young point guard, Mario Chalmers. The former Jay Hawk had previously spent the majority of his career as the starter for the Heat, but following the acquisition of Eddie House and Carlos Arroyo, his role in the team was a little more blury. Nonetheless I stated at [...]
Earning his pay cheque
The Heat returned to their winning ways Saturday night against the Raptors after a four game slide. The Wade-less and Bosh-less Miami franchise turned on the offense led by James and the outbreak of Mike Miller, who put on a clinic to the tune of 22 points in just the second quarter. He finished with 32 points including 6/11 from deep. James had 38 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists as he played the majority of the night in a roaming power forward position. He was a nightmare match-up for Toronto. Miller was previously basket-less in the American Airlines Arena [...]
And then there was one
Wade and Bosh will both sit out tonight’s game hosting the Raptors. Wade’s continual issues with migranes has resurfaced, whilst Bosh still is yet to recover from the ankle injury he suffered against the Nuggets. Whilst the Raptors don’t pose the same threat that Wade had to deal with in Denver and Chicago whilst LeBron and Bosh were out, it still is a good opportunity for the remaining member of the Big 3, James, to have some fun. Wade had a chance to get back to the old Dwyane Wade against Chicago last week but he spent most of the [...]
The LeBrons are back
Your favourite commercial family is returning, this time in on the internet and in a permanent show. We all remember the Wise LeBron, young LeBron, business LeBron and athlete LeBron, but James seems to think there is a little more in this than just some silly humour used to sell shoes. Everything James touches turns to gold, given the power of perhaps the most marketable athlete on the planet. There’s no reason why this will fail either. It won’t go down too well in Cleveland though. The show is set in Akron and the plot surrounds the characters portraying messages [...]
Ugly
The Heat slipped to their fourth consecutive loss and by far their worst loss since the highly scrutinised 9-8 start to the season. The return of LeBron James offered little help to Miami who failed to achieve any offensive consistency and rhythm throughout the game, relying on large runs during the second and third quarters from Wade and James to keep the game close. It was a really hard game to watch. Neither team offered anything on offense and whilst the defenses were stingy, it wasn’t entertaining. Perhaps the most disappointing moment of the game was when the Heat had [...]
Wade not liking the villain
Normally a fan favourite at the United Center, regardless of the fact he is wearing the opposition uniform, hometown boy Dwyane Wade received a different reaction Saturday night in Chicago. “I was in the fetal position, I hit three parts of my body on that one,” Wade said. “For the first time when I went down I heard cheers, I never really heard that before.” He is referring to the moment when he took a shot to his knee which left him on the sidelines during training today. He was banged up and fell to the ground. And the crowd [...]
