Phew
The youthful and trade ravaged Washington Wizards set out to break the 11 game win streak and they almost did. Led by the ultra talented Nick Young and his 30 points, the Wizards seemingly had the game in the bag with under a minute to go. Seemingly. The Wizards gave Bosh an open look from 3, which he unsurprisingly hit. The reason I say that is because it’s not the first time he has hit a big 3 this year. He has done it at least twice from memory. I believe he has only hit 3 three pointers this season, [...]
Still the king of MSG
LeBron James put on a show for a hostile New York crowd in what felt, atleast for 3 quarters, like a playoff game. The intensity was high, the crowd was riding every bounce of the ball and for the first time in years the Knicks seemed like they were a genuine eastern conference threat. Enter the third quarter, enter LeBron’s quarter. He poured in 14 acrobatic points, but he did it so comfortably you wouldn’t have known he almost single handedly took a tight, tied ball game into a Heat blowout. He finished with a solid 32 points, 11 rebounds [...]
Countdown
In around 10 hours from right now LeBron will be taking his talents back to New York to face the revitalised Knicks franchise at MSG, a place where LeBron has had a somewhat successful career. Averages around 35 points 8 rebounds and 8 assists is phenomenal, but the fact at only 25 years of age, and someone that is averaging 8 assists at the building, is only one of two players to have multiple 50 point performances at the world’s most famous arena. Of course we know the name of the other man. If you just said Kobe then you’d [...]
LeBron will be keeping his talents in Miami
For all us Cavs fans who hoped pinching ourselves would awake us from the horrible dream that has ensued over the past 6 months, well a bucket of water was thrown over our faces following LeBron finding a new palace. The 3 story mansion overlooking Biscayne Bay in South Beach covers 12,000ft, and apparently has water views in every room. The house boasts something like 6 bedrooms, a home theatre, an enormous wine cellar (which you can only imagine will turn into a room for his kicks) and a wharf with enough room to hold two 60ft yachts…completely necessary especially [...]
Spirited Cleveland unable to avenge
The Cavaliers had the awful task of heading into the American Airlines Arena in the midst of an 8 game losing streak. The game had the making of a blowout, perhaps more humiliating than that of their home defeat two weeks ago to LeBron, Wade and co. To the credit of Cleveland they gave the Heat a real run for their money. Nothing was expected of them, they could have easily rolled over and let the Heat pile on their 10th consecutive double figure victory. But the scrappy Cavaliers forced a 17 point fourth quarter effort from Wade to fall [...]
Wise Words LeBron
As we all know from his antics at the Indians game a few years ago, LeBron is quite an avid Yankees fan. This upset a few people at the time as people declared he wasn’t loyal to his home city, well I’m not going to touch that. Cliff Lee knows what it’s like to take his talents away from Cleveland, although the wake his departure left was a mere ripple compared to the tsunami of flak that pulverized LeBron. Nonetheless King James was contacted yesterday for his reactions on the former Yank moving to greener pastures, and into a team [...]
Rolling
LeBron, Wade and the Heat kept rolling to their ninth consecutive victory with a real grinding effort against the Hornets. Miami pulled out perhaps its best defensive performance of the season, highlighted by holding New Orleans to just 9 points in the first quarter, a terrific effort given their form so far this season. LeBron had a fairly unproductive 40 minutes, although 20 points 7 assists and 4 rebounds would be a standout performance for almost any other forward in the league. He did manage the play of the day though, a filthy off balance jumper from the wrong side [...]
The East getting crowded?
ESPN are currently reporting the Carmelo Anthony trade has sprung back into life, following a warm ovation from the MSG faithful last night, and word is that a Denver-New York trade is all but imminent. Word is that Anthony will not sign the $65 million extension offered by Denver early in the off season, unless it is with the Knicks. Now currently it’s all speculation and we remember just before the season started that reports from ESPN were that a Denver-New Jersey headlined 4 team trade was going through its final stages, but for that to fail. But with the [...]
The Big 2 make it 8 straight
LeBron had 25 points and 10 rebounds, Dwyane had 36 points 6 rebounds and 6 assists, the Heat have 8 straight wins with a points differential of nearly 18 per game. I feel I have stressed the continual emergence and growth of the No.6 and No.3 combination, but tonight I think they were starting to realise it. When interviewed after the game, Wade could hardly wipe the smile off his face. Perhaps he was smiling because of how well he played (36 on 15/23 shooting with +/- of +31) but perhaps he was smiling at what this team is fast [...]
7th Heaven in the Oracle
The Heat, led by another sterling James-Wade combination, have notched up their 7th consecutive victory after blowing out the Warriors 106-84. LeBron had 25 from 10/18 shooting, including three straight 3 pointers to end the third quarter (where he shot 3/4), also adding 9 assists and 7 rebounds for the second consecutive game. Wade had 34 with a reversed 9 rebounds and 7 assists. I said it Wednesday and I’ll say it again, these two are starting to really learn how to play with each other, and for the few moments they are playing as a team, rather than individuals [...]
