I’ve said it over and over again this season, and I said it again last night, but I am a big fan of Daniel Gibson. I love the tenacity he plays with each and every night. And I love the passion he brings to the floor with him on a daily basis. He is a true professional and he’s a guy that, I believe, genuinely cares about the city of Cleveland.
Unfortunately, he did a few things last night that I didn’t particularly appreciate. From my perspective, he seemed to be laughing and joking around with LeBron James while on the Cleveland bench. He seemed to be smiling and having a good time even though he and his teammates were getting their @$$e$ handed to them. I was not OK with that at all.
But since I came down hard on him last night, I wanted to clarify a few things this afternoon.
When he was asked about all of those antics last night, Gibson said that what looked like smiles and laughs with LeBron weren’t. He said, “There was nothing friendly about the conversations we had last night” and that some things were said last night that hurt their friendship. Gibson said that he smiles and tries to laugh it off when things are said that make him angry and that is what went on last night. Nothing more.
I know, I am biased. Daniel Gibson is a classy guy. And I believe every word he said today. I believe that he didn’t appreciate everything that went down last night. And I appreciate his heartfelt apology to fans and friends via Twitter last night.
Keep on keepin’ on, Boobie.
All together, Cleveland.
