There seems to be a similar story going on with the three big sports franchises in the Cleveland area. Of course, our beloved Cavaliers are going through something of a rebuilding period. The Tribe is enduring what seems to be a lifelong rebuilding phase. And the Browns may very well be at the tail end of their rebuilding stage.
I know this has very little to with the Cavaliers. But this season is about uniting as a city of one. The Browns may very well be the most feared 3-7 team in all of football. And they are giving this city a reason to believe again.
Colt McCoy is playing a brand of football similar to that of a seasoned veteran. His statistics are less than impressive but he is not making rookie mistakes. He isn’t taking unnecessary chances down the field. And he is putting his team in a position to win every single Sunday. Peyton Hillis – the white rhino – has bowled over opponents all season. And Rob Ryan’s defense has been nothing short of stellar. With the addition of another playmaker in the receiving core (Dane Sanzenbacher anyone?!), this team could be special.
The same goes for the Cavaliers. Give me one more playmaker to dress in Wine & Gold this season – or next season – and we can be special as well. I will be the first to admit that I lost all faith in the pumpkinheads before this season. But don’t lose faith in the Cavaliers.
All together, Cleveland.
