Is It Time for the Playoffs Yet?
Wednesday night’s game meant absolutely nothing at all to either team. Both the Cavs and the Hawks sat most of their regulars; however, the Hawks who did play gave it everything they had. I don’t think I can say the same about the Cavaliers. Now I am going to be upfront with you right from the start; I cut the game off midway through the third quarter so I could catch a little bit of the Indians-Rangers game (and I’m still questioning that decision). But I really did not miss a whole lot from the sounds of it. This became [...]
Top 5 of 2010
He may or may not be in the starting lineup for Wednesday night’s season finale against the Atlanta Hawks but Shaquille O’Neal has been cleared by doctors to get back to playin’ some basketball just in time for the 2010 NBA Playoffs. And to add to the excitement of game number 82, we have used your votes in last week’s poll to put together the Gospel’s version of the Regular Season Top 5. Number 5: Delonte West throws the hammer down on Josh Smith (12/29) and Tracy McGrady (3/2) Two separate nights. But two fantastic finishes by Delonte West. As [...]
Cavs Drop Final Home Game to Magic
Remember back in 2002 when Coach Herm Edwards screamed at a reporter, “You play to win the game!”? Well, Mike Brown added an implied “…unless you’ve already clinched the number one spot” on Sunday afternoon. Cleveland was down eight with about a minute a half remaining and Brown elected not to foul and waved the hypothetical white flag as Cleveland was outlasted by Orlando 98-92. Neither Mo Williams nor Antawn Jamison saw many minutes in the second half even though the Cavs had a valuable opportunity to completely demoralize their bitter rivals. Not so sure how I feel about that [...]
Cavs Drop Meaningless Nail-Biter to Bulls
Wow! That’s all I can say about Mo Williams’ performance on Thursday evening. I, myself, was sitting in the gym earlier in the day and got this weird feeling that we were going to see another segment of Lordy, Lordy LeBron Gets 40 against the Bulls. But I was wrong; LeBron didn’t even play. It was LeMo-Gotti that almost eclipsed the forty point mark. Williams went for 35 points (22 in the second half) and 10 assists to make up for the absence of the King. Mo was feeling it in the fourth quarter and canned tre after tre – [...]
Top Ten of 2010
With less than a week left in the season, the Gospel wants to know your five favorite moments of the 2009-10 campaign. What is your favorite moment of the Cavaliers’ 2009-10 campaign?trends
Cavs Top Raptors in the Q
Seven of the nine Cavaliers who got significant playing time scored in double figures on Tuesday night as Cleveland cruised past the Toronto Raptors 113-101. After clinching the league’s best record on Sunday evening, LeBron James made a few comments about getting some rest before the playoffs begin in a few weeks. He was on the floor against the Raptors but really did not seem to be pushing too hard. That’s not to say he had an off-night or played poorly because he certainly did not. He was just incredibly smooth in everything that he did. The King connected on [...]
Now Batting for Your Cavaliers…
I don’t know about you all but I am a huge Cleveland Indians fan along with being a Cavs fanatic. And Monday afternoon marked the beginning of a new baseball season for our Tribe as they matched up against the Chicago White Sox. They lost 5-0 and never really threatened to score a run. But that’s OK. Cleveland is full of young guns and this year is about getting better, not winning games per say. Those young guns gave a solid effort in the loss and gave me a little inspiration for today’s post. There’s a good chance that when [...]
LeBron Puts Up But C’s Won’t Shut Up
In terms of ranking, Sunday night’s matchup with the Boston Celtics meant very little to either team. The Cavs have all but solidified the number one spot in the Eastern Conference and have done nothing but win since losing the services of Shaquille O’Neal, Anderson Varejao, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Mo Williams and Delonte West for spurts throughout the season. But anytime the Cavaliers are matched up with the Celtics, it turns into a cage fight where technical fouls are issued like parking tickets in the Capital. Coach Mike Brown headed to the locker room early in second half after picking up [...]
Cavs Soar Past Hawks
Good teams win games even when they’re not at their best. And the Cavaliers are a darn good team. They were a little stagnant for a few stretches during the game and began the fourth quarter on a bit of a turnover high. But the Cavs stuck it out and came away with a 93-88 victory. I feel like I say this after every game but LeBron turned in another incredible performance as he went for 27 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and steals. The King took over late in the game, scoring ten points in the fourth quarter to [...]
May the Royal King Be Loyal
Just weeks after the Cleveland Cavaliers won the city’s first team championship in 46 years, LeBron James has finally put pen-to-paper on a deal that will keep him in Ohio until at least 2016. Now obviously that hasn’t happened quite yet. But it is only a month or two away. I just saw the new ESPN New York site that they put up sometime yesterday (or the day before maybe) and was disgusted by the LeBron articles already. TheBron has lived and breathed the state of Ohio for his entire life. He has spent the last several months promoting a [...]
