I think I speak for everyone when I say that after seven straight games decided by eight points or less, it was nice to be able to sit back and confidently enjoy the show.
First of all, I can’t remember the last time LeBron James didn’t score in the top five for the Cavaliers. But JJ Hickson, Shaquille O’Neal, Daniel Gibson, Jamario Moon and Zydrunas Ilgauskas all outscored the young King against Minnesota.
Hickson led the way with 23 points and 8 rebounds. He connected on 8 of his 10 shot attempts and recorded a perfect 7 for 7 from the free throw line. If JJ keeps improving and continues to give the effort that he gave on Wednesday night, Mike Brown will certainly have his work cut out for him when Leon Powe returns when it comes to rotations.
Shaquille O’Neal continued his outstanding play with a 13 point-4 assist-4 rebound performance in just 19 minutes of work while Zydrunas Ilgauskas gave a solid 13 point-5 rebound-2 assist effort. The twin tower combination worked very well for the Cavs in this matchup. Boobie Gibson handled the point guard duties again and provided a steady 13 point showing.
Jamario Moon was back in action for the second straight game and gave an impressive 14 point showing as he splashed home both of his three ball attempts.
And you know you are absolutely ridiculous when a double-double effort gets you mentioned dead last in a game recap but we have all grown accustomed to such incredible numbers by King James. LeBron took only 8 shots and recorded 12 points to go along with 11 assists and 6 rebounds. He showed off another one of his signature “get that weak stuff outta here” chase down blocks against Corey Brewer that ignited the Q.
Cleveland will hit the road again on Friday as they take on the Pacers in Indiana. Danny Granger and LeBron James always put on a fairly decent show (and by fairly decent I mean, good but not quite as good as the Wade-LeBron show we got the other night) so it should be a fun one to watch.
