It’s been quite the busy week for me but I’m gettin’ back to it this afternoon with a look at tomorrow night’s matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Here’s how both teams matchup:
Baron Davis v. Daniel Gibson
In his tenth year in the NBA, Baron Davis continues to produce steady numbers from the point guard position. He accounts for better than 16 points a night to go along with 8 assists and nearly 2 steals. Daniel Gibson has been playing solid basketball as of late but does not match up well with Davis simply because he’s just not that strong. I wouldn’t [...]

A Homecoming of Sorts
Cavs Roll Over Wolves
I think I speak for everyone when I say that after seven straight games decided by eight points or less, it was nice to be able to sit back and confidently enjoy the show.
First of all, I can’t remember the last time LeBron James didn’t score in the top five for the Cavaliers. But JJ Hickson, Shaquille O’Neal, Daniel Gibson, Jamario Moon and Zydrunas Ilgauskas all outscored the young King against Minnesota.
Hickson led the way with 23 points and 8 rebounds. He connected on 8 of his 10 shot attempts and recorded a perfect 7 for 7 from the free [...]
One Man Wolf Pack
Our beloved Cavaliers will carry their five game win streak back into the Q to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. Minnesota sports an embarrassing 9-37 record (but that’s okay, they’re still better than New Jersey) and can’t provide the same star studded matchups that Cleveland fans have been used to over the last week or so.
But here’s how the two teams match up:
Daniel Gibson v. Jonny Flynn
In the absence of Mo Williams and Delonte West, Daniel Gibson has given Cleveland two very solid performances from the point guard position. Jonny Flynn, Minnesota’s rookie out of Syracuse University, [...]
Ya know, I started the piece off the other day with this but I’m going to do it again. Because LeBron James is a monster and because, well, I can…
M-V-P! M-V-P!
All right. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way:
Dwyane Wade came out strokin’ on Monday night and torched the Cavaliers for 30 points in the first 24 minutes of play. The last seven minutes of the first half turned into the LeBron James-Dwyane Wade show as both players scored 12 consecutive points for their team. Heading into the break, Cleveland was down 54-50 and LBJ had notched 22 [...]
Cavs Head to South Florida
At 23-20 the Miami Heat hold the fifth best record in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland, however, holds the best record in the league and has played very well on the road this season.
Here’s how the two teams match up:
Rafer Alston v. Daniel Gibson
Rafer Alston put up very steady numbers against the Cavaliers last season in the Eastern Conference Finals. But he doesn’t have Dwight Howard to attract all the attention down low this season and is not shooting the basketball with much consistency this season. Daniel Gibson, however, shook off his early nerves on Saturday night and was able to [...]
LeBron, Cavs Stuff Thunder
M-V-P! M-V-P! M-V-P!
Kevin Durant drove to the hole as the clock ticked down, attempted an off balance three-footer and King James rose up sky high to send that weak stuff out of here. ‘Bron then stepped to the free throw lane and calmly sank two free throws to put the game out of reach with just over a second left in the game.
James matched his scoring total from Thursday night with another ridiculous 37 point performance while adding 12 assists and 9 rebounds to his stat line. With Mo Williams and Delonte West shelved due to injury, he spent much [...]
Just two days after welcoming Kobe Bryant and company into the Quicken Loans Arena, the Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in another star studded match up. Kevin Durant comes in to Saturday evening’s contest averaging 29.2 points and 7.2 rebounds a night. The Thunder’s third-year player has recorded four double-doubles in ten games this month and averages eleven trips to the free throw line per game entering Friday’s contest in Memphis. Durant made some history against the Grizzlies on Friday night, as his 30 points marked the seventeenth consecutive game that he has scored at least [...]
Wow! That’s the kind of game that makes you want to watch standing up on the only chair in your dorm room and take a victory lap around the building when the horn sounds.
Cleveland got word earlier in the day that Mo Williams’s shoulder strain was going to keep him on the sidelines for at least a month. That’s over 16 points of offense and the team’s starting point guard that was MIA in Thursday night’s match up with the defending champs.
But no Mo, no problem for LeBron James and Co. LeBron canned 37 points in all and took over [...]
Rematch: Best vs. the West
The Lakers bring their 32-9 record into the Q on Thursday night for a primetime rematch with our Cleveland Cavaliers. LA has only played 15 of their first 41 games on the road and sport an unimpressive 9-6 record in such games. Kobe leads the way with a steady 28.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game while Pau Gasol chips in with 17 points and 11 boards. Andrew Bynum began the season playing extremely well but his production has decreased since Gasol’s return. Ron Artest adds better than 12 points per night and does a very good job [...]
Midseason Progress Report
I’ve seen several editions of these midseason report cards but was a bit bothered by the grades received by a few players. Many others have put out grades for players strictly based on how impressive their stats are through the first half but let’s all keep in mind that we only have one LeBron James. Each other player on this team has a role to fulfill and here’s how they’ve fared through 42 games this season:
Starters
Mo Williams — Mo kicked off the season with a slow start but has produced very similar numbers to his totals last year. Playing in all [...]
