For the second straight season, the youthful Kings proved that they can hang right with the Cavaliers. Led by rookie guard Tyreke Evans, Sacramento outscored Cleveland 19-15 in the fourth quarter to force a five minute overtime.
Then LeBron and Co. put them away. The Cavaliers held Sacramento scoreless in the overtime period and poured in thirteen points to take the road victory 117-104.
LeBron James put up jaw-dropping numbers in the impressive win. The King was 14 of 30 from the field for 34 points while adding 15 rebounds and 10 assists. Mo Williams found his stroke in the third quarter and followed James’ lead for 27 points on 10 of 19 shooting.
The sweet shooting Cavaliers center, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, came off the bench to provide a potent attack for the Wine and Gold. Ilgauskas was 10 of 14 on the night in a 25 point-8 rebound performance. Ilgauskas canned three consecutive three pointers in the overtime period to give his team a commanding lead. His front court counterpart, Shaquille O’Neal, added a steady 8 points and 8 rebounds in the contest. Anderson Varejao and Delonte West gave another outstanding effort on the bench as the two combined for 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
Next up for the Cavs will be the much anticipated Christmas Day matchup with Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers.
