After going down 11 – 0 to start the game, Cleveland responded with a 29 – 0 run of their own behind a 14 point stretch by Delonte West. West finished the game with a season-high 21 points on 6 of 9 from the field and 9 of 9 from the free throw line.
Daniel Gibson, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Anthony Parker all added 8 points apiece to the effort and Anderson Varejao snatched a game-high 12 boards to help lead the Cavs to their fifteenth win of the season. Former Bucks guard Mo Williams improved to 5 – 0 against his old team with the win and contributed 13 points for the Wine and Gold while canning 3 of his 4 attempts from long distance; the Big Witness Protection saw limited action due to foul trouble but needed just over 15 minutes to post another double-digit scoring performance.
King James, who was introduced to the tune of Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York”, tallied 14 points and 10 assists in his fourth consecutive double-double to lead his Cavaliers to a 101 – 86 victory.
Cleveland’s 29 – 0 run was the longest in the NBA this season and was started by Anthony Parker’s jumpshot that cut the Milwaukee lead to 17 – 12. With LeBron looking on, Delonte West began the second period with 14 straight points to set a new season-high mark after just four minutes of work. After holding Milwaukee scoreless for 11 minutes and 22 seconds, Carlos Delfino hit a turnaround jumper with just over five minutes left in the half. Shaquille O’Neal then added 8 straight points of his own, including an impressive two-hand slam to finish the alley-oop from LeBron James.
The Cavs were outscored by four points in the second half but turned in an impressive fifteen point advantage over their division foes.
Cleveland will be back in action on Tuesday night in Memphis to take on the 8 – 12 Grizzlies.
