Over the last ten years Cavaliers fans across the world have seen their team push through a series of peaks and valleys on their way to becoming one of the most elite franchises in the National Basketball Association. Many players and coaches have played an integral role in putting Cleveland basketball back on the map and, as this decade comes to a close, the Gospel looks to honor some of these people with a spot on our All-Decade Team.
Head Coach- Mike Brown
In his four full seasons as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Mike Brown has led his teams to [...]

The Cavaliers never led through the first three quarters and trailed by as much as 17 early in the second half. After trimming their defecit to 2 with 4:35 left in the third, Atlanta pushed their lead back up to 11 before the end of the period.
Then Cleveland turned up the heat and outscored the visiting Hawks 29-16 to steal their 26th win, 106-101, on LeBron’s 25th birthday.
With the game knotted at 101 and the shot clock winding down, Anderson Varejao made a shot fake, took a dribble and then calmly canned the first three pointer of his career to [...]

Mo Williams continued his shooting tear and led the Cavaliers to a 95-84 victory in the first of back-to-back games against the Atlanta Hawks. Williams poured in 15 of his team-high 20 points in the first half as the Cavaliers remained perfect on nights that their All-Star point guard scores 20 or more points.
LeBron James struggled from the field, going 6 of 20 from the floor in his 40 minutes of work. The King added 10 assists, 8 rebounds and 5 steals in the winning effort. Anthony Parker connected on 4 of 7 shot attempts in a 10 point performance [...]

Hidy-ho ya caffeine nuts!
Back in the late 1800s a man by the name of Dr. John S. Pemberton invented Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Georgia. About nine servings of the soft drink were sold every day and the first year profit was $-20. Until 1905, it was marketed as a tonic and contained extracts of cocaine as well as the kola nut. Today, the drink is arguably the most recognized consumer product on the face of the earth.
The Cavaliers will be marchin’ on historical grounds on Tuesday night as they take on the Atlanta Hawks.
And here’s how it breaks down:
With a 21-8 [...]

The Cavaliers remained perfect in games that Mo Williams tops the 20-point plateau and ripped the Rockets 108-83 at the Q.
Mo Williams canned a three-point attempt in the final seconds of the first half to put Cleveland up by three at the break. And the Wine and Gold held the lead for good after that. Led by the league’s most explosive scoring duo, the Cavaliers outscored the Rockets 32-15 to take a commanding lead. LeBron and Mo combined to make five long distance attempts in less than three minutes early in the third quarter to extend Cleveland’s lead to 15. [...]

Welcome home ya’ll.
Before we begin, I’d like to get one thing off my chest real quick. I thoroughly enjoyed that Christmas Day wallop of the defending champs. But I strongly dislike watching any games that Jeff Van Gundy is calling. It seemed like every time he spoke the other night, he was praising Kobe Bryant for something. Yes, Kobe is a great basketball player (though still the second best in the league). But c’mon, Jeff. The man almost had more shot attempts than Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom and Derek Fisher combined. And he whined about every single nonfoul [...]

LeBron and Co. headed off to the Staples Center to take on the defending champs for Christmas. And oh what a Merry Christmas it was.
The league’s most potent offensive attack poured in a combined 54 points and 16 assists on Friday evening. Mo Williams led the team with 28 points on 8 of 13 from the field while adding 7 assists and 6 rebounds in the contest. LeBron James was harassed by Ron Artest for much of the night but still managed to connect for 26 points and 9 assists.
Shaquille O’Neal muscled his way to 11 points on 5 dunks [...]

Feliz Navidad my fellow Gospel elves.
On Wednesday evening ol’ Saint Nicholas paid us Cavaliers fans an early visit and left a thirteen point overtime victory over the Sacramento Kings under our trees. For some of us, Santa Clause returned to spread his Christmas cheer on Thursday night. And, by some of us, I mean everyone except those who choose to support the second best player in the NBA (who shall remain nameless) and his crew from LA.
One of the best Christmas gifts you shall receive this holiday season is not topped with a pretty bow under your Christmas tree. Our beloved [...]

For the second straight season, the youthful Kings proved that they can hang right with the Cavaliers. Led by rookie guard Tyreke Evans, Sacramento outscored Cleveland 19-15 in the fourth quarter to force a five minute overtime.
Then LeBron and Co. put them away. The Cavaliers held Sacramento scoreless in the overtime period and poured in thirteen points to take the road victory 117-104.
LeBron James put up jaw-dropping numbers in the impressive win. The King was 14 of 30 from the field for 34 points while adding 15 rebounds and 10 assists. Mo Williams found his stroke in the third quarter [...]

Welcome aboard Gospelites!
Eighteen years ago today, Cavalier Crazies got an early Christmas gift from Craig Ehlo against the Utah Jazz. As part of one of the greatest moments in Cavs’ history, Ehlo sank a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to send Karl Malone, John Stockton and the Utah Jazz home and give Wine and Gold fans across the country an early Christmas present. The shot and victory were brought to life by Joe Tait’s legendary call: “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause! And he comes from Lubbock, Texas!”
On Wednesday night, our Cavaliers will look to rewrite some of that [...]
