AUTHOR: Matt Snyder | IN: Cavs, NBA, News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West missed the team’s first practice of this year’s training camp.
Coach Mike Brown notified reporters that West was absent from the team’s first practice and wasn’t sure if Delonte West would be attending the team’s evening practice. Brown also commented by saying that team General Manager, Danny Ferry, was “handling the situation”.
West’s absence comes almost a week after being arrested in Maryland and being charged with gun possession after Maryland police found two handguns and a shotgun in a guitar case on his back.

Rumor Report: Cavs looking to deal for SG

AUTHOR: Matt Snyder | IN: Cavs, Free Agency, NBA, Rumors | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The word on the web is that the Cleveland Cavaliers are still looking to make a late off-season move. Numerous sources have reported that the Cavaliers are looking to sign or trade a hybrid guard.
The first name that was thrown around (yet thrown out) was that of Flip Murray. Murray spent half of the 2005-2006 season with the Cavaliers and was a key player off the bench in the playoffs. Murray is said to be signing a bi-annual contract with the Charlotte Bobcats.
There aren’t very many FA guards left out there but if the Cavaliers do decide to dip into the [...]

C.O.A.T. #2 Brad Daugherty vs. #7 World B. Free

AUTHOR: Matt Snyder | IN: Cavs, FanZone, NBA | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Last weeks C.O.A.T match up between Bingo Smith and John “Hot Rod” Williams mixed things up a bit as Willams defeated Smith for the first upset of the C.O.A.T tournament. However, this week’s match up is a bit less promising as #2 Brad Daugherty takes on #7 World B. Free.
It’s going to take a lot for Free to win since Brad Daugherty is beloved by the city of Cleveland. Daugherty was drafted number one overall in the 1986 NBA Draft by the Cavaliers and spent his entire career in Cleveland. He retired at the young age of 28 due to [...]

Over the years we’ve seen many professional athletes become trendsetters. From Jordan’s sneakers to Barry Bond’s steroid use, athletes are responsible for many of the popular (and some not so popular) trends that we see today.

Since LeBron James has entered the league, he’s become one of the most popular trendsetters in professional sports. Whether it’s his WITNESS clothing line or his pattented chalk toss, LeBron James has taken the world by storm.
LeBron’s newest trend has become quite popular recently, especially among a few professional athletes.
For the past couple of months the biggest story in sports has been the ever changing [...]

C.O.A.T #4 Bingo Smith vs. #5 “Hot Rod” Williams

AUTHOR: Matt Snyder | IN: Cavs, FanZone, NBA, Other | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It’s been two weeks since Mark Price kicked off the C.O.A.T tournament by getting a decisive win over #8 seed, Shawn Kemp. Last weeks match up had #3 Austin Carr going head to head with #6 seed Larry Nance. After a week of voting the fans have given AC the nod to head to the next round as he edged out Larry Nance by only 5 votes!
This week’s match up calls upon another pairing of two Cavalier greats as #4 Bingo Smith takes on #5 John “Hot Rod” Williams in what looks to be our closest match up of the [...]

4 Bold (and 1 Not-so Bold) Predictions for 2010

AUTHOR: Matt Snyder | IN: Cavs, FanZone, NBA, Witness | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

With the NBA pre-season set to kick off later this month my eyes are already set on the  regular season. With that being said I’m making 4 Bold (and 1 Not-so Bold) Predictions for the Cavaliers 2009-2010 season.
1. Danny Ferry will win NBA Executive of the Year: If Ferry’s offseason moves to bring Shaq, Moon, Parker and Powe didn’t make him a favorite to win the award already, Ferry will up the ante when he makes a mid-season move to bring in another All-Star player. It looks as though Ferry’s plan could be to deal Zydrunas Ilgauskas during the season in hopes [...]
