KJG’s 2009 NBA Free Agent Preview: Centers

AUTHOR: | IN: Free Agency, LeBron James | COMMENTS: None Yet

I choose to do this edition of our 2009 NBA Free Agent Preview last because I feel as though Center is the least important position the Cavaliers need to address. Trading for Shaquille O’Neal gives the Cavs two all-star centers, not to mention the highest paid back up center in the entire NBA. I think that the Cavs will look to sign a center in 2010 and spend this off-season to address the PF position and look to improve the perimeter defense. With that being said here’s a look at potential signings at Center if Cleveland chooses to do so. [...]

As Expected Varejao Opts Out

AUTHOR: | IN: Free Agency, LeBron James | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Anderson Varejao has decided to test his value in free agency by opting out of the last year on his contract. He could possibly miss out playing with LeBron and Shaq by signing with another team. He could also easily return to the Cavs and make more money. Varejao had really no choice not to opt out when he can demand more money and a longer contract. Thats why its good to have a player option in your contract. I think a team like Pistons could really drive up his price, but they might not want to hurt their free [...]

Shaq, “A Ring for the King, Baby!”

AUTHOR: | IN: LeBron James | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Blogging about the Cavs this coming season might even be more entertaining than watching the games. Now that they have another huge personality with the team we should expect quotes (from the upcoming SI Magazine)  like this for at least another year. “Here’s my motivational slogan for next season,” said Shaquille O’Neal last Saturday by phone from his home in Orlando. “A ring for the King. He wants one, and I want another one. A ring for the King, baby!” “Everybody is going to say, ‘Whose team is it?’ “said O’Neal, two days after the Cavaliers acquired him from the [...]

KJG’s 2009 NBA Free Agent Preview: Forwards

AUTHOR: | IN: LeBron James, NBA | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

KJG has already shown you the guards we think could possibly call Cleveland home for the 2009-2010. Now it’s time to take a look at possible free agent signings at the forward positions. This is a big position to fill for the Cavaliers. With the possibility that Anderson Varejao could opt out of his contract and the contract of Joe Smith expiring, power forward could be the teams biggest need. So here’s a run down on the top free agents at Power Forward. Brandon Bass, Power Forward. What I like: At 6’8 Brandon Bass has a strong, bulky build that [...]

Paul Harris Chooses the Cavs

AUTHOR: | IN: LeBron James, News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Paul Harris has decided to join the Cavs summer league team choosing them over the Bulls and Timberwolves. Harris declared for the pro draft after his junior and went undrafted Thursday night. The shooting guard from Syracuse had a successful junior year, but many people thought he still need some development before going pro. Now the Cavs will get a crack at him and see if he can develop into a player. He is very athletic player with long arms for his position, but is very raw. He shot over 30% from the arc his sophomore season but went under [...]

On Thursday, the day of the NBA draft, two blockbuster trades were made in the Eastern Confrence. The Cavaliers acquired Shaquille O’Neal from the Phoenix Suns for Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, a 2010 second round pick and cash considerations. The other major swap made on draft day was the Orlando Magic sending Rafer Alston, Courtney Lee, and Tony Battie to the New Jersey Nets for Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson. Orlando held a press confrence on Thursday to introduce the newly acquired Vince Carter to the media. Since the trade on Thursday Carter has been very vocal about joining his [...]
