Alex Ovechkin has made a hockey fan out of LeBron James. LeBron received a signed jersey from Ovechkin last month and this week LeBron sent his jersey to Ovechkin before their series started with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
If you are tempted to think the Crosby-Ovechkin rivalry is strictly hockey-centric, one more thing before the puck drops for Game 1. NBA superstar LeBron James express-mailed a signed blue No. 23 Cleveland Cavaliers jersey that Caps owner Ted Leonsis hand-delivered to Ovechkin in the home locker room on Friday.
James wrote this inscription: “To Alexander the Great: Keep up the good work. King James.”
Capitals Owner Ted Leonsis said that Ovechkin was excited like a “little kid” over the jersey.
“He was happy that LeBron remembered him and delivered on his promise,” Leonsis wrote in an e-mail after giving Ovechkin the jersey. “He seemed like a little kid.”
